Our team is hard at work. We will give you updates as projects are completed.
My vision is to cultivate a vibrant community, starting with the creation of a united team. I believe that we are all intricately connected, and that teamwork is the cornerstone of achieving our shared dreams. I aspire to be a guiding light for others on this journey, embracing my role as a leader with humility and purpose. My motivation is rooted in the belief that our focus must always remain on those we serve. My partnership with OCD Biz Solutions aligns seamlessly with my core values of community engagement and creativity. Additionally, my involvement with The People's Market and Exchange fills me with immense pride, as I am continually inspired by the growth and transformation I witness in others.
Picture this: I entered the world on a brisk Monday morning, October 21, 1985, under the sign of Libra, amidst both challenges and uncertainties. My young parents, embarking on the daunting yet exhilarating journey of parenthood, were still finding their footing. They were inexperienced but possessed a remarkable determination to learn and adapt to the unpredictable nature of raising me. While they faced their fair share of hurdles and separation I was fortunate enough to be enveloped in a warm and loving network of family and friends who provided nurturing support. It was a unique experience, having two families, which at times felt overwhelming, yet it also enriched my life in ways I could never have anticipated. Through every twist and turn, I uncovered the power of adaptability, the strength of resilience, and a profound sense of belonging.
For the past 38 years, I have called Edmonton my home—a city that has nurtured my growth and development. My upbringing was steeped in a strong work ethic, deeply influenced by my European heritage and also the rich cultural ties to My indigenous lineage. the Swimmer clan are descendants of chiefs, and connects me to a significant chapter in Canadian history. This rich tapestry of culture and tradition not only shaped my identity but also ignited a burning desire within me to create positive change in the world around me.
However, the journey of life is not without its heartaches. Our family has faced the devastating loss of loved ones to suicide, an experience that tested our bonds and resilience. In those dark moments, I clung to a mantra: “Family may come and go, but our roots remain united.” This guiding principle has illuminated my path through the shadows, reminding me of the strength we draw from one another.
From an early age, a spark of leadership ignited within me, fueled by an innate desire to make a difference. I found inspiration in the trailblazers of my family, individuals who defied the odds and carved their own paths. It became clear to me that success is not merely a matter of luck; it is the culmination of the choices we make and the relentless efforts we invest in our goals. My father, a creative entrepreneur with an unwavering work ethic, played a pivotal role in shaping my understanding of business. He involved me in various tasks from a young age—everything from nannying to managing logistics at his mountain lodge. Each responsibility was a stepping stone that taught me invaluable lessons about hard work, financial management, and the relentless pursuit of ambition.
As I transitioned into my teenage years, I embraced a wide array of job opportunities—telemarketing, bussing tables, door to door sales, and even minor construction projects. However, it was at the age of 19 that I stumbled upon my true passion: the electrical trade. The moment I stepped onto my first construction site, I was met with an exhilarating sense of freedom and purpose. Being the only woman on-site not only empowered me but also paved the way for nearly two decades of experience in the electrical industry. Yet, the truth is that my journey is far from over. I feel a strong calling to inspire and mentor the next generation of youth, encouraging them to explore the trades and discover their own paths.
In addition to my work in the electrical industry, I ventured into property ownership by managing a four-plex. This experience involved crafting leases, interviewing tenants, overseeing renovations, and fostering a sense of community—while simultaneously juggling a full-time maintenance role for a multinational corporation. The ability to manage extensive workloads while creating innovative solutions brought me immense satisfaction and has greatly influenced my approach to challenges.
Driven by a desire to enhance my leadership and public speaking skills, I decided to join Toastmasters, a decision that has profoundly impacted my life. Over the past decade, I have evolved into an active member, undertaking various roles—including Secretary, VP of Education/Membership, PR, President, and Area Director. My journey within Toastmasters has been nothing short of inspiring, allowing me to connect with diverse individuals and contribute to the fostering of community. I take immense pride in having sponsored the Scotford Toastmasters Club at Shell and coaching the team for five years, and
empowering others to find their voice in the corporate space.
As I look toward the horizon, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the challenges and opportunities that await me, particularly as I prepare to serve Northern Alberta in the upcoming term, as well as my involvement with Bee- link and the Peoples Market and Exchange. My story is one of resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to personal and communal growth. I invite you to join me on this remarkable journey, as together, we can create a brighter future for our communities and ourselves, inspiring one another to reach our fullest potential.
I strive to apply fundamental principles to communicate effectively and lead across all areas of my life—be it my holistic business, the community, trades, or in Toastmasters. My goal is to share my knowledge and advocate for collaboration and community recognizing that connections often flourish through mutual acquaintances. By sharing resources and integrating our networks, we can pave a more efficient path to success. Let us uplift one another and thrive together, for what one person has may be exactly what another needs. Together, we can diversify our presence in the marketplace by crafting a strategic blueprint for our future.
I'm a single mother who started the journey into jewelry about a year ago when I began taking over for a lady who retired and sold her business. What started as a means to support my family quickly blossomed into a passionate endeavor. I have since dedicated myself to honing my craft, creating unique and meaningful pieces that reflect the beauty and resilience inherent in each of us. Through this journey, I've discovered not only a fulfilling career but also the incredible support and community within the world of jewelry.
I continue to evolve as an artist, I also strive to give back in any way I can. Whether it’s offering mentorship to aspiring jewelry makers, collaborating with other artisans, or supporting local community initiatives, I love being part of this vibrant and creative community. Building connections and contributing to the collective success of our close-knit circle has become as rewarding as the craft itself. By being a dedicated team member and lending a helping hand, I aim to inspire others to pursue their passions and to find both joy and fulfillment in their own unique journeys.
